A different kind of sequence
The following details apply here. The tableau has seven columns. Moves build down in the same suit rather than allowing cross-suit destinations. Four complete King-to-Ace runs clear the game. Scorpion on hainanweilai.com uses one 52-card deck with four suits.
Read the opening cards
The following details apply here. All cards in the last three columns are face up. The first three cards in each of the first four columns are face down. Three cards remain in the stock. Each opening column contains seven cards for a total of 49 tableau cards.
Check rank and suit together
The following details apply here. A seven of hearts cannot land on an eight of spades. A moved group's leading card must land on a card exactly one rank higher in the same suit. A King cannot land on another card because no higher rank exists. A seven of hearts can land on an exposed eight of hearts.
Order within a group may vary
The leading selected card still has to meet the destination rule. The selected cards do not need to descend in rank to travel together. Any face-up card can be selected together with every card beneath it. The selected cards do not need to share a suit to travel together.
Only Kings fill empty space
Here are the details for this mode. A group led by a lower rank cannot enter an empty column. An empty column accepts a King or a group led by a King. Cards beneath a moved King do not need to be in sequence. An empty column is therefore less flexible than an empty column in ordinary Spider.
Uncover another choice
An exposed card can carry the cards beneath it when its own destination is legal. Undo restores the earlier hidden-card arrangement when the move is reversed. Removing all face-up cards above a hidden card turns that hidden card face up. The next hidden card is revealed automatically.
Use the stock once
This Scorpion version permits its stock deal when columns are empty. The stock contains one final deal of three cards. Dealing places a face-up card on each of the first three columns. There are no further stock cards after the three-card deal.
Complete a suit
A few details help explain this feature. Moving an unordered group does not make that group a completed sequence. A completed run must descend from King to Ace in one suit. The game removes a qualifying run automatically from the bottom of a column. All thirteen cards in a collected run must be face up.
Plan around blocked cards
A few details help explain this feature. Replay and Undo let you explore another approach to the same layout. Checking the whole moved group helps you anticipate what will become blocked. A move can carry unwanted cards along with a useful leading card. Hint lists legal choices without promising a winning continuation.
Your separate local record
A few details help explain this feature. Privacy & Cookie Settings lets you remove local saved games and results. My Statistics records Scorpion starts and wins separately from other variants. Random Scorpion shuffles are not advertised as guaranteed winnable. Scorpion keeps a separate saved position when game saving is enabled.
